I began my psychological training in 2004 at the University of San Francisco to pursue my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology.  After graduation, I began a number of internships exposing me to a variety of populations around the city including juvenile justice, private practice and school based work.  I began a 9-year tenure at California Pacific Medical Center beginning with an internship and leading to a position on the hospital medical staff.  Experiences there included directing the social skills program, supervising interns and expansion of the school-based therapy program.

Since focusing on private practice work, the scope and focus of my practice expanded to include couples counseling, specifically using the evidence-based modality of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy to create and strengthen connections in relationships.

Teaching remains a passion of mine.  I'm an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of San Francisco and the content of my courses have included a focus on using cognitive behavioral therapy to treat trauma symptoms in both adults and children.  I also teach workshops on the effect of new babies on parent relationships, parenting and media and dealing with anxiety at schools and organizations around the city.  I also supervise clinical interns in my practice through weekly supervision sessions and ongoing case consultation.

I've completed specific training in the following topics:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy  (TF-CBT)
  • Structural Family Therapy
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-Harm
  • Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
  • Healing after Infidelity

I am a member of a number of professional organizations including the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, Northern California Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Association, Family Therapists of Northern California and the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.  I am a member of the President's Council at DeMarilliac Academy in the Tenderloin.

My private practice serves both the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco and Central Marin County.  A longtime resident of San Francisco, I recently moved to San Anselmo with my wife and two children.  I look forward to discussing how I might help you and the ones you love.
