Individual Sessions

People seek out therapy for a number of reasons.  Some people are looking for relief from clinical symptoms of anxiety or depression. Others are looking for the validation and emotional regulation that come from working through their current challenges with a caring, engaged listener.  An approach that blends the theoretical background of Cognitive Behavior therapy and practical, present-day, reality-based practices is used with both adults and adolescents to create a safe atmosphere and relationship in which to explore the issues that clients bring to each session.

All content in individual therapy is strictly confidential per HIPAA laws and guidelines.

Couples Therapy

Couples sessions are structured using the framework of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, an approach that helps identify triggers and attachment injuries in a couple system.  Expression of core emotion and an experiential, present-focused framework is applied in a safe, therapeutic environment.  Emotionally Focused Therapy is an empirically proven method of healing conflict and creating connection in couples.

Family Therapy

Family sessions are designed to identify recurring cycles of interaction or behavior that affect family functioning.  Structural family therapy provides a guideline for helping families reestablish limits and boundaries as well and strengthening strained relationships.  Emotionally Focused Family Therapy allows family member to hear more about the core emotions that are triggered while striving to make a secure connection with each other.  While content is discussed and worked on in session, a stronger focus is placed on the process of interactions and relationships in the family.
