Amanda Grumet, AMFT
Amanda sees herself as an ally and supporter to her clients in their journey toward self-understanding and living their most fulfilling lives. All human beings are constantly changing and adapting to new circumstances and we all need support at times to navigate challenges in relationships or new experiences and to nurture our continued evolution.
Amanda received her Master’s in Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA, and specializes in treating couples, families and individuals. She is trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), an evidenced-based intervention for couples. Amanda is also experienced in family therapy and enjoys working with multiple members of a family as well as multiple generations in a family system. Amanda specializes in fertility counseling and the post-partum adjustment of couples to the birth of a new baby. She also does pre-marital counseling to prepare couples for marriage. She is particularly interested in cultural challenges couples face when having different ethnic, racial or religious identities.
Before becoming a therapist, Amanda worked in schools in NYC and San Francisco as a Literacy and Arts consultant and crisis counselor. She has worked with every grade level from kindergarten to university, and really enjoys helping teenagers and young adults find their passions in life. Amanda speaks conversational Spanish, Italian, French and Swedish, and is sensitive to multicultural dynamics in relationships and to idiomatic and cultural nuances. Amanda lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children.
