Natalie Blum-Ross, AMFT

Natalie is dedicated to building safe and collaborative relationships with her clients, which she views as the foundation for effective psychotherapy. Her integrative, relational approach helps clients understand their emotional patterns and develop more fulfilling relationships in their own lives.

Natalie’s warm and accepting style animates her work with clients facing a range of challenges including: depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, trauma, ADHD, minority stress, low self-esteem, obsessional thoughts, substance abuse, grief and loss, identity development, and parenting/care-giver stress. She works with adolescents, adults, and couples.

Natalie’s clinical practice is psychodynamic, systems-oriented, and culturally-responsive . Additionally, she incorporates evidence-based techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She is trained in Emotionally-Focused Therapy — an evidence-based, attachment-oriented approach that guides her work with couples.

Natalie earned her Master's degree in counseling psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley. Before becoming a therapist, she earned a PhD in history from New York University. Her academic training lends intellectual rigor to her current work with therapy clients.

In addition to private practice, Natalie is an associate therapist at a Catholic high school in Oakland, California, where she also teaches Health and Wellness Leadership. When she is not at work, Natalie loves to garden and watch movies with her kids.
